Your ability to navigate the CSI software and add, modify, and view different data is determined by various factors, including your:
- assigned user type and workspace
- user groups and user group-specific extensions or restrictions
- roles related to the matter and customer
- and the basic settings of the software.
The user type determines your basic usage rights and the functionality available to you. Users of the software are either normal users, restricted users, or power users.
- Power users are the software's admins, who have unlimited rights to use the software, manage user rights and software settings, and update new software versions.
- Normal users can generally use all the software's functions except for the settings.
- Restricted users have very limited usage rights, making this user type suitable for trainees, for example.
You may not see all the folders in the software, as the power user may have hidden task areas, folders, or subfolders deemed unnecessary to simplify the software's use. For this purpose, a workspace based on your work role may have been defined in your user information, optimizing the folder structure to support your work.
User groups allow for the expansion or reduction of your normal user type's usage rights. A user can be assigned one or more user groups, and then certain rights can be allowed or removed based on the user group. User group-specific rights can be defined for handling customer and their identification events, matters, transactions and expenses, preliminary invoices, and reports. Additionally, the visibility of matters and entries can be protected based on user groups.
Roles defined for matters and customers also regulate what you can do in the software. If you are assigned to a matter in one of the responsible roles (owner, responsible person, assistant, or invoicing contact), you can modify all the information and entries of that matter. If the matter is protected, you can be added as a member of the matter team, giving you visibility into the matter's information. Certain lists may also be shown to the customer responsible that are hidden from other users.
Certain basic settings defined in the software may also affect your usage rights. For example, the power user may restrict the visibility of transaction entries so that they are only visible to the person who recorded the entry.
Power users always have access to all the software's information, so if you have questions about the visibility of information and various usage rights, please contact your office's power user.
