You can start a conflict search most easily from the main window’s top bar, in the Customer and Conflict Search field. The same function is also found in the Workspace area under the Conflict Search folder.
- Type the customer’s name or business ID/personal ID into the search field and press Enter.
- The results matching your criteria will appear in a list. By default, the conflict search lists both private persons and companies. In the Conflict Search folder, you can filter the search using the Type field.
- From the list, you can see whether the customer has acted as a principal, opponent, or in some other role in matters recorded in the software.
- The list also shows if the customer has matter requests, active sales opportunities, or if the customer is on the blacklist (in which case, new matters should not be opened for them). If the customer’s role in any matter is Principal, the date of the most recent recorded transaction or expense is also shown.
- With the “Show Matters” button on the ribbon, you can view the customer’s matters. You can also create a new matter request for the customer with the “Create Matter Request” button, or start a more comprehensive conflict check if the conflict search result does not sufficiently confirm the customer’s eligibility.
