If you measure the duration of a transaction using the timer available in the software, you can record the transaction directly based on the timer result. You can find the timer button in the matter and customer views, in the top bar of the software, and on the Home tab.
If you are working on a specific matter, it is best to start the timer via the matter, so that both the matter and the customer information are automatically linked to the timer. If the timer is started from elsewhere, the matter must be selected separately in the timer.
The timer starts with the Start button, time tracking can be paused with the Stop button, and resumed again with Start. You can adjust the time shown on the timer in 5‑minute increments if you forget to start it when beginning work, or if it keeps running when you switch to another task. Time can be edited only when the timer is stopped.
When the task is completed, you can create a transaction from the timer duration by selecting the transaction type, entering the transaction text in the Subject field, and clicking Save transaction and close.
If you need to use several timers simultaneously, you can open them in the timer window. The New Timer button starts additional timers, which appear below the previous timers. The customer and matter information is shown in the format “Customer: matter number – matter subject”, helping you identify the correct timer.
Only one timer can be actively running at a time, and the timer state (Start/Stop icon) is shown at the beginning of the timer row.
The power user may have defined a minimum timer duration in minutes in the software settings. Each user can also define their own minimum duration by clicking their name in the lower right corner of the software and selecting Parameters from the window that opens. The minimum duration setting is located in the Defaults folder.
