Saving the matter request activates its folders, where you can save the following information:
Matter Parties
The principal is automatically saved as the client and 100 % payer. If there are other payers in the matter, you can save them in the folder and edit payment shares. Also add all other parties to the folder, as information about the opponent is valuable for conflict checks. If needed, you can add a clarification of the customer’s role in the Explanation column.
You can open a matter party from the list and add to it a matter-specific contact, customer reference, and invoicing contact to override customer-specific information.
Team Members
In the Team Members folder, you can add all users involved in handling the matter. They have access to the matter even if it is defined as an insider matter or its visibility is restricted using the Permissions function.
You can also add a matter-specific hour price for a team member, which is saved for transactions recorded by that user in the matter if a user-specific pricing model is in use and no general hour price is set for the matter.
Role Pricing
The Role Pricing folder allows you to price transactions in the matter based on the user’s employee role. You can add matter-specific hour prices for roles defined in the software. If a role-based pricing model is in use and no general hour price is set for the matter, transactions entered in the matter will automatically get the hour price based on the role of the user recording the transaction.
Transactions
If billable work needs to be done at the matter request stage, it can be recorded in the Transactions folder. Entries saved in the matter request are also transferred to the matter created from it.
Activities
You can also add activities to the matter request to manage related tasks and assign responsibility to users. Activities do not transfer from the matter request to the matter, but they remain visible in the customer’s Activities folder.
