To monitor the progress of active matters, you can define a status reason for the matter, which allows matters to be grouped in views. You can use this, for example, if you want the software to alert you about matters with no work recorded in the last month, but want to exclude matters marked as “On Hold.” The status reason also allows a lawyer to mark their matters as ready for completion, so the admin team can proceed with closing them.
The software includes the following status reasons by default: “in progress,” “on hold,” and “ready for closing”. The power user can define more status reasons in the settings, also for closed matters.
To set a status reason for a matter:
- Move the cursor over the desired matter in the matter list or open the matter.
- Select the Status Reason button on the ribbon or right-click the matter row in the list and choose Status Reason.
