The power user can activate a transaction type that speeds up and standardizes entries and enables pricing and reporting for different types of transactions.
If a transaction type has been activated, the power user also defines the transaction types that correspond to the company’s operations.
Each transaction type can be pre‑configured with its default hour price and estimated duration, and a longer description can be added to the Transaction text field. This description is copied as a draft to new transactions and can be edited or supplemented by the user. A ready-made draft speeds up entries and also makes the invoice sent to the customer look more consistent.
In addition to billable transaction types, the software can include internal transaction types used for recording the company’s administrative work. Internal transaction types are distinguished from billable ones in the Category field.
The use of transaction types can be set as either mandatory or optional. If using a transaction type is mandatory, creating a new transaction always begins with selecting the transaction type.
If transaction types are not mandatory, the transaction type selection window is skipped when creating a new transaction. However, you can still add the type in the transaction window if you wish. The power user may also have set a default transaction type for the business unit or the matter, in which case the new transaction window opens without prompting for the type. The type will already be selected and can be changed if necessary.
