The software enables the recording of both billable and administrative transactions. Entries can be made in many different ways through various folders and windows in the software, but also by using external applications and integrations, for example:
- In the software’s Matters and Transactions folders
- From the timer duration
- From entries made in the worktime calendar
- With the CSI MyDesk quick entry application
- With the CSI Mobile application
The wide range of options allows you to choose the most suitable and efficient entry method for each situation. If entries imported from external sources do not contain enough information to save the transaction, the software recognizes this and allows incomplete transactions to be completed.
Transaction entries often make use of predefined transaction types. These help standardize users’ entries, which speeds up the invoicing phase and produces more professional‑looking invoices for customers. Transaction types also enable hour‑based pricing for specific kinds of work and support their monitoring through reports.
Transactions recorded in the software can also be copied or moved from one matter to another, temporarily set as non‑billable, or edited in bulk.
To ensure that entries are ready for invoicing on time, users can also be assigned a limited number of allowed transaction posting periods. This means that when a user wants to record transactions for a new week, they must close the oldest of their currently open entry weeks—ensuring that all entries for that week have been completed.
