In CSI Lawyer and CSI Professional, additional flexibility can be added to transaction hour pricing by enabling either a user‑based or role‑based pricing model. In CSI LakiMies, pricing models are not available.
By default, no pricing model is enabled in the software. In that case, the hour price of an individual transaction is determined by all hour prices entered into the system, and the transaction receives its price according to the software’s standard hour‑price hierarchy. When either a user‑based or role‑based pricing model is enabled, the software ignores certain types of hour‑price data when determining the transaction’s price.
The user‑based pricing model takes into account the hour prices defined for users either in their user profile or when the user is added to a customer or matter team. This pricing model completely ignores the hour prices set according to the user’s employee role.
The role‑based pricing model, in turn, takes into account the hour prices defined for the employee role - either in the user’s profile or by defining roles at the customer or matter level. This pricing model ignores all hour prices defined directly for the user in their profile or as a member of a customer or matter team.
The pricing model can be defined at the business unit, customer, or matter level, with the matter level being the strongest and the business unit level the weakest. You can read more about how the pricing model affects the hour‑price hierarchy here.
