A summary invoice is a invoicing method designed to consolidate multiple invoices into a single invoice package. It is particularly useful when a customer has several different matters. With a summary invoice, multiple invoices generated from different matters can be sent to the customer as one combined invoice. The customer can then pay all included invoices with a single payment.
You can attach to a summary invoice several open invoices belonging to the customer and currently in either Open or Sent status. Each invoice included in the summary invoice retains its own detailed specification of transactions and expenses. The specification includes information such as the invoicing period, invoice number, reference, matter number, and matter name.
A summary invoice itself is not applicable for accounting. The sales are registered in the bookkeeping through the individual invoices included in the summary invoice.
