The invoicing process depends on whether the firm uses CSI LakiMies or CSI Lawyer / CSI Professional.
Invoicing Process in CSI LakiMies
In CSI LakiMies, the invoicing process is straightforward. Once a billable matter has been selected, an invoice is generated from its open transactions and/or expenses either up to a specified date or based on the invoicing period defined in the settings. You can also create invoices for multiple matters or for all matters displayed in the list at the same time.
The software compiles the matter’s open transactions and expenses onto the invoice and automatically takes into account, among other things, discounts defined for the client and the matter. If the invoice is generated for a single matter only, the software opens a window where you can use the price adjustment function to modify the invoice total as well as payer shares or discounts. If invoices are created for multiple matters at once, the price adjustment window is not displayed, but the generated invoices can be reviewed in the Financial Management > Invoices folder.
The invoice content can be reviewed using the preview function. You can also edit certain invoice details, such as the language, late payment interest, payment terms, invoice date, due date, as well as the text on transaction and expense rows included on the invoice.
Invoicing Process in CSI Lawyer and CSI Professional
In CSI Lawyer and CSI Professional, you can use a preliminary invoice before creating the final invoice. This allows the invoice material to be reviewed and finalized before the invoice is generated. You can also define a preliminary invoice review process that routes the preliminary invoice from one user to another until all required reviews have been completed. This allows invoice material to be reviewed digitally without the need for printed copies.
When using a preliminary invoice, the process is as follows:
