We have released a new version of CSI MyOutlook that introduces new functionality, including, for CSI Lawyer customers, the ability to create new matter requests directly from the application. In addition, the release includes fixes for software issues reported by customers.
What's new
General
- List screens (Entries, Matters, Tasks, Worktime, etc.) use a light grey background in light mode, and a dark background in dark mode, so cards stand out more clearly. When a user hovers over a calendar date, it is highlighted with the selected accent color of the app instead of a fixed grey.
- The appearance of input fields has been standardized. Empty and filled fields use a grey border. Labels of disabled fields are shown faded, and any value entered in them is displayed in muted grey.
- All lists use clear, consistent default sorting, and the app enables changing the sort option. The Calendar views sort transactions, tasks, critical tasks, and work time by date (cannot be changed). In Matters & Matter Requests, latest are the first, with options to sort by Subject, Matter Number, or Principal. Customers are sorted by Name (A–Z) and can also be sorted by customer number. Preliminary Invoices are sorted by entry date (oldest first). The Notes list can be sorted by Modified On, choosing either Oldest or Newest first (the Created On field has been replaced with Modified On). Other lists (Conflict Checks, Billable Matters, Customer Identifications, Skills, Matter Phases) are sorted either by date or name. Transaction types are now sorted within the application, as the API does not currently support this type of sorting.
- While loading the content, Dashboard, Matters list and screen, Customers list and screen, and Transactions list show skeleton placeholders shaped like the content. Once the data has loaded, the skeleton is replaced by the real content.
Matter/Matter request
- A new matter request can be created directly from the app's Quick actions menu, in the same way as creating a new transaction, task, critical task, or work time entry. The feature is available when using CSI Lawyer with the matter request functionality enabled.
- A matter request can also be created directly from an email in Outlook. The Email Actions pane now has two tabs: Entries and Matter Request. If a matter request already exists for that email, opening the Matter Request tab shows it right away. If not, it opens a ready-to-fill form with the email's subject already filled in (still editable). With a new toggle, "Add this mail as note," a user can attach the email to the matter request. By default, the toggle is off, so nothing is added unless it is turned on.
- The Matter list can be filtered by Invoiceable Type (Billable, Internal, or Non-Billable) and/or by Matter Type (configured for the organization).
- When a selected matter has warning-level restrictions (overdue invoices, incomplete customer identification, or service restriction), the warnings appear as an inline message instead of a pop-up. Information about the matter being internal, non-billable, or in a different language than the interface, is shown below the warnings.
Transaction
- When entering a new transaction, the matter search opens right away, and recent and frequently used matters are listed below the search field.
- When a new transaction is created, user's skill (if any) is automatically fetched from the matter's team member, customer's team member or from the user information.
- When using an existing transaction as a template, an info banner appears at the top of the screen explaining that a new transaction will be created. This helps avoid confusing the Use as template screen with the Edit screen and accidentally overwriting an existing entry.
- When a user attempts to switch organizations while a timer is running, a confirmation dialog is shown indicating the name of the target organization and informing that switching organizations will stop the timer and save the current entry as a draft. The dialog includes a summary of the entry: description, running status, start time, and a duration that updates in real time. The user can choose "Cancel", in which case the timer continues running, or "Stop and Switch", in which case the timer is stopped, the entry is saved as a draft, and the organization is switched.
Settings
- In Profile settings, users can define whether the app lists all matters and customers or favorites only. By default, the matter and customer lists show only favorites. Users can still switch to "all" on the list screen. The permanent change to the default value needs to be done in the Profile settings.
- The "About" screen (opened from Profile) is now a dedicated page with a back arrow in the top bar.
Other
- If the app cannot get connection to the notification service, a user is shown a clear message informing that new notifications cannot be loaded.
- The notifications area now offers a Refresh button to reload notifications manually if needed.
- Access errors are now classified based on their underlying cause, and the error message shown to the user clearly indicates whether access is denied due to application permissions, user permissions, or another reason.
- If a session has expired, the user is now taken directly to the sign-in screen instead of showing a misleading permissions error.
Bug fixes
General
- If an email was linked to a transaction, task, or critical task that was later deleted, opening Email Actions in the application would block all actions. After the fix, the application detects the missing link and prompts the user to confirm its removal. Once confirmed, the user can again create a new transaction, task, critical task, or matter request from the email.
- An unnecessary Today button was displayed in the calendar view even when the current day was already selected.
- In date-grouped lists (such as Transactions, Timesheet, Tasks, and Critical tasks), visual separation between days was not clear enough.
- Language, currency, and country selectors were not listed in alphabetical order, making it difficult for a user to find the desired option.
- If a user lacked the permissions required for email, calendar, or task-related actions, the application previously displayed only a generic error message. After the fix, action buttons are disabled when the necessary permissions are missing, and the user is shown a clear message explaining which permissions are required.
Matter/Matter request
- When a new matter request was created from a customer's detail screen, the Customer field in the matter request was not prefilled.
- On a customer's card, the lists of Matters and Matter Requests lacked sorting options. The Matters list can now be sorted by Opening date, Subject, or Matter number. The Matter Requests list can be sorted by Created on or Subject.
- Saving an email to a matter could occasionally fail without showing an error message, causing the application to become stuck.
Transaction
- Although the parameter "Transaction alert check level" was set to "No alert", a matter with overdue invoices could not be selected for a new transaction entry.
- When creating a transaction from an email for a customer whose identification had not yet been completed, the application displayed only a generic error message. After the correction, the user is shown a clear message explaining that identification must be completed before a transaction can be created.
- When the application was used in Finnish or Swedish and a date was selected from the calendar for a new transaction, the calendar language was English.
- In a foreign currency transaction, the hour price currency was shown as an abbreviation instead of a currency code in the field label.
- The transaction price calculation was not always correct when the transaction was created using another transaction as a template.
- When creating a transaction a closed matter was selected the app showed only a generic "something went wrong" error message.
- When transaction posting periods were in use, the user could not open new posting periods to create transactions.
- When a transaction was on a locked posting period and only the subject was editable, attempts to edit other fields showed an unclear generic error message.
- When a user was adding a transaction in the application and the posting period for the selected date was not open, the date shown in the prompt to open the posting period was displayed in English instead of the user interface language.
- If a matter (billable or internal) had matter-specific transaction types defined, and a user cleared the matter-specific transaction type filter when adding a new transaction to the matter, the Billable/Internal filter was not auto-applied.
Invoicing
- The preliminary invoice status shown in the app did not match CSI software (e.g. Open vs. Reviewed), and the price adjustment made did not properly update the status.
Other
- The application could occasionally fail to load the user profile, causing the view to become stuck. After the fix, the user is shown a Retry button instead of a blank screen.
- The application's login screen opened in the wrong location and could be opened multiple times on repeated clicks.
