A new update for CSI MyDesk has been released.
What's new
General
- The View button on cards tells what it opens, for example "View matter", "View customer", "View matter request", "View transaction" or "View task". This applies to the cards on transaction, task, work time entry, conflict check, matter, billable matter, preliminary invoice, matter request and customer views, and the label is shown in the user's language.
- Form dialogs for Transactions, Tasks, Work Time Entries, Notes, Matter Requests, and the Timer can be resized by dragging the handle in the bottom-right corner of the dialog. This provides more space for fields and lists. Dialogs cannot be resized smaller than their default size or larger than the app window, and they always open at their default size. Confirmation and message dialogs remain fixed in their size.
- On the Dashboard, the hours chart can be hidden or shown using the button next to it. Hiding the chart frees up space for the transaction list and clears the date filter. The setting applies to both Dashboard tabs, and the application remembers the user's selection.
- Selection screens that list values, such as matters, customers, skills, transaction types or users, can be filtered by typing in a search field. Clearing the search shows the full list again. Matters can be searched by matter number, subject or customer name. If nothing matches the search, a no-results message is shown instead of an empty list.
- In the transaction, work time entry, timer, task, note, matter request and conflict check screens, the "Save" button stays visible at the bottom of the screen, so it can be saved without scrolling to the end.
- Selection views for linked fields, such as Matter, Language, Transaction Type, Customer, Skill, and Country, have a search field and a refresh icon. The lists are filtered as the user types in the search field, and matters can be searched by matter number, subject, or customer name. If no matching results are found, a message is shown. Filtering and selection can also be performed using the keyboard only.
- The quick action menu shows its options in groups: "Tasks" (new task or critical task), "Time and invoicing" (new work time or transaction) and "Matters" (new matter request). Only the options that are enabled for the user and organization are shown. A group with no available actions is hidden.
- The app can be used with the keyboard only. Tab moves through all buttons, fields, cards and lists with a clearly visible focus, and cards open with Enter or Space. In the Billable hours, Worked hours and Hour price fields the up and down arrow keys change the value. Dates can be typed and the calendar used with the keyboard, lists can be searched and selected with the arrow keys and Enter. Esc closes only the topmost view, and a transaction can be saved with the keyboard.
- The dashboard chart for billable hours over the last 7 days has a toggle. By default it is set to "Last 7 days". Switching the toggle to "Current week" shows Monday to Sunday of the current week. The future days show zero hours. The setting is remembered, and the toggle appears once the updated version is in use.
Matter/Matter request
- When creating a matter request, the matter owner and the matter responsible (both recommended) and the business area can be chosen. The owner and responsible are prefilled with the current user, and the business area is empty by default.
- When editing a matter request, the Owner and Responsible fields can be changed by power users and by the Owner, Responsible, Assistant and Invoicing Contact of the matter request. In insider matter requests only power users, the Owner, the Responsible and the Assistant (when the organisation's settings allow it) can change them. All other fields can be edited as before.
- The matter requests list can be filtered by Owner. When the list is opened, the default selection is "My Own" showing matter requests where the user is the Owner, Responsible, Assistant or Invoicing Contact. Selecting "All" shows all matter requests. In matter request lists shown e.g. under a customer, the filter is off by default. For restricted users, "My Own" is always on and cannot be changed.
- A restricted user only sees the matter request functions that the settings allow. If creating matter requests is not allowed, the add buttons are hidden. If editing is allowed, a restricted user can edit only matter requests where they are the Owner, Responsible, Invoicing Contact, Assistant or a team member. If editing is not allowed, matter requests can only be viewed.
- The matter, matter request and customer lists can be filtered with the "My own" option, which shows only records where a user has a responsibility role (matter owner, responsible, invoicing contact, assistant or customer responsible). In a customer's matter and matter request lists, all records are shown by default until the filter is enabled.
Transaction
- In the transaction details, "Billable hours" is shown before "Hour price", consistent with the CSI software.
- When choosing a transaction type, the types can be filtered by category with the Category filter, which also has a "No category" option. The types are grouped under their category names. The filter and grouping are shown only when the transaction types use at least two different category values, and the filter works together with the Invoicing filter and search.
- In the dashboard as well as on the transaction, expense, task, critical task, and work time entry lists, day and week groups can now be collapsed and expanded. A collapsed group shows only its header with the total hours. All groups are expanded by default. The state of each group is kept when the list is refreshed, when switching between the lists, and after the app is restarted.
- In the transaction and matter detail views, related fields are shown next to each other. For a transaction the author is next to the worked hours and the skill is under the transaction type. For a matter the owner is next to the responsible person and the last entry date and conflict check have swapped places. Hours in the list cards and detail views are shown both as decimal hours and time in brackets, for example 0,5 h (00:30).
- In transaction create and edit screens, the clear (X) button is no longer shown on fields set as required, such as Transaction type and Skill fields. A required value is changed by choosing a new value from the list. Optional fields can still be cleared with the X button.
- When adding a transaction, the text of each transaction type is shown in at most two rows. If the text is longer, a "More" button appears and displays the full text of that type.
- A new transaction for the same matter can be added directly from a transaction card or from the transaction detail view with the "New to same matter" action. The new transaction form opens with the matter already selected and all other fields empty, unlike "Use as template", which copies also the other transaction's details.
- Keyboard entry is now faster. When a feature (e.g. Transactions) opens, the cursor is in the search box, and adding a transaction moves the focus to the next field to fill. The Tab key moves through Matter, Transaction type, Subject, Date, Billable hours, Skill and Matter phase, skipping "Worked hours" and "Hour price". Within the Date field, the Up and Down arrows add or subtract one day while the calendar is closed.
Invoicing
- When creating a preliminary invoice, you can choose between "Periodical invoice" and "Until selected date". "Periodical invoice" creates a preliminary invoice according to the invoicing period set in parameters. If no invoicing period is in use, "Periodical invoice" shows a "No period" message and only "Until selected date" can be used. With "Until selected date", you can set the end date and the entry date, both defaulting to the current date.
Settings
- In Profile, Appearance, a new "Display size" setting makes text, spacing and controls in the app smaller or larger. Choose Small, Normal or Large from the preview options; the app resizes without saving, and the choice is remembered on the device.
- When first onboarding, and later under Profile settings, users can choose which feature the app opens to. The default selection is Dashboard, which will be restored if the user's chosen feature is later switched off. The Transactions feature is always enabled, like Dashboard and Timer, and it cannot be switched off.
Bugs fixed
General
- The space between a field label and the red required-field asterisk did not match the design, and in a narrow window fields placed side by side were not shown one per row.
Matter/Matter request
- The matter request edit view showed the "Clear" link beside the label of fields with a value, such as Matter responsible, and it overlapped the label text. After the fix, "Clear" appears only while the mouse pointer is over the field and the label stays readable.
- Saving a matter request, task, transaction, note or work time entry failed with a version error if the record had been changed elsewhere meanwhile, for example from the CSI software. After the fix, the app says the record was changed and keeps the typed values, which lets the next save succeed. If the record is deleted or inaccessible the app gives a message.
Task/Critical task
- Saving a task failed with a version conflict error if the task was edited and saved a second time in a row.
- When the size of selection windows was changed, the layout broke. Also, the "Other responsible persons" list of a critical task worked differently from the other selection lists. After the fix, selection windows keep their layout when resized and other responsible persons are selected the same way as in the other lists.
Transaction
- When a timer was linked to an internal matter and a transaction was being created from the timer, the user was not informed that only hour-based transaction types were selectable.
- When creating a transaction, the transaction type list did not follow the regional setting of the user account. After the fix, the list follows the account's regional setting, and the price field labels show the currency code, for example "(EUR)".
- When a transaction was created from a timer, changing the value in the Billable Hours field did not update the Worked Hours field, which kept the value from the timer. After this fix, when the user leaves the Billable Hours field, the Worked Hours field is also updated to reflect the modified value.
- Saving a transaction created from a timer failed with a permission error for users with restricted rights, and the transaction was not created. Now the transaction is saved normally.
- When a restricted user added a transaction to a billable matter, the Billable hours field was not displayed, so only the worked hours were saved for the transaction. After the fix, restricted users can also edit the billable quantity while adding or editing a transaction. Prices are not displayed.
Timer
- When the subject of a running timer was edited and saved, the timer time made a jump, and the "+5 min" action showed a success message but did not add five minutes to the timer. After the fix, the timer keeps counting the actual time after the subject is edited, and "+5 min" adds exactly five minutes.
- If a running timer was adjusted with "+5" or "-5" and the app was closed, crashed or the computer restarted before the timer was paused, the adjustment was lost. The time slots also did not add up to the timer's total time if "-5" was larger than the latest session, and an empty 0:00 slot was saved. After the fix, adjustments are kept and the time slots always add up to the total.
- The floating timer button shown while the timer was running was not draggable.
Work time
- When editing a work time entry, clearing the work time type, matter, activity or description was not saved, and the old value remained. The same applied to clearing the duration of a task. In addition, the transaction type, skill and matter phase of a transaction could not be cleared. After the fix, cleared values are saved, and these transaction fields can be cleared when creating and editing a transaction.
- When a time entry was created using the quick actions, the worktime type stayed empty and was not filled with the default worktime type from the user's settings.
- When the window was narrow, the function buttons and day tiles in the work time calendar header overlapped or were cut off. After the fix, the header stays readable down to a width of 400 px, and the app has a minimum width of 400 px below which the page scrolls horizontally.
- The Work time views have been renewed, and an expand action has been added to the week header.
Invoicing
- The "Preliminary invoices" section was also visible in the invoicing area for CSI Lakimies users, who do not have preliminary invoicing in use.
- In the "Create preliminary invoice" dialog, the label above the invoicing period dates on the "Periodical invoice" tab showed a technical text instead of "Invoicing period". After the fix, the label is shown in the user's language.
Settings
- In Profile settings under Appearance, the "System" theme could not be selected: only "Light" and "Dark" were shown as options. After the fix, a user can also select "System" to enable the app to switch between light and dark themes as the operating system theme changes.
