Activation of the CSI API
All new CSI products are built using the CSI API application interface, which enables secure communication between software components, for example when retrieving data or performing different operations.
The first step in implementing new CSI products is therefore the activation of the CSI API in the customer’s database. The activation only needs to be performed once; if your organization has already implemented, for example, CSI Mobile, the activation is already in place.

Installing CSI MyOutlook
CSI MyOutlook can be installed either centrally via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center (option 1) or directly on a workstation (option 2). If there are many CSI users and Microsoft 365 is in use, we recommend option 1, as it removes the need for each user to perform the installation individually.
NOTE! CSI MyOutlook may require app registration in Entra ID. Installation via the M365 Admin Center does not enable CSI MyOutlook immediately. According to Microsoft, it may take up to 72 hours for it to appear in Outlook.
Option 1: CSI MyOutlook distribution through the Microsoft 365 Admin Center
NOTE! Performed by the company’s IT (M365/Entra ID) administrators
- Login to M365 Admin Center with a Global admin/Exchange admin ID.
- Go to Settings > Integrated apps.

Click “Upload custom apps”.

Select in the App type field “Office Add-in”.

Enter in the Provide link to manifest field the CSI Outlook’s manifest.xml: https://install.csihelsinki.app/myoutlook/manifest.outlook.app.xml and click Validate.

Click Next.

Select if the application should be delivered to the entire organization or just to specific users/groups > Next.

Grant the required permissions to the app > Next.

Finalize the installation by clicking the Finish deployment button.
- Next, to ensure that users can access CSI MyOutlook, go to Entra ID Admin Center > Identity > Applications > App registrations. Select CSI MyOutlook > Grant Admin Consent.

Inform users that CSI MyOutlook will appear in Outlook within a few days. Please note that the application deployment may take up to 72 hours.
Option 2: Installing CSI MyOutlook Directly in Outlook
- Go to https://install.csihelsinki.app/myoutlook/

Download the CSI MyOutlook manifest.xml file to your computer using the Download button.

In Outlook, select File > Manage Add-ins.
- You will be automatically redirected to the Outlook web version, where you can access Add-ins.
- Select My add-ins.

Add new by clicking “Add a custom add-in” and select ”Add from File…”.

Browse to and select the XML file downloaded in step 2.

Confirm the installation.

CSI My Outlook will appear in your list of Add-ins.
